The book covered the good, bad, and ugly of his life. In life, we must always fight comfort as it is the enemy of greatness. Boyd sacrificed in every area of his life to give to our service members everything that he possibly could. Initially he became a good pilot, then a great instructor, then a great engineer, and then one of the greatest military thinkers in history. Politician, he was not. He struggled with the idea of playing well with others and therefore, many in government, military, and defense contracting would not agree with the benefit of contributions but many of us that have directly benefited from his work believe that he is the kind of leader that we need more of in this world. There is so much to learn from John Boyd. Any student of leadership, war, military history, federal procurement, The US Airforce, Physics, Accomplishment, philosophy, engineering, almost every other field needs to not just read this book but study it.īoyd’s work saved countless lives and gave superiority to the US military in numerous areas. Because of this, many credit him as being the best military mind since Sun Tzu. WOW… This was one of the top 10 books that I have read in my life. I have read close to 4,000 books and believe that every military leader should read this book and Call Sign Chaos: Learning to Lead by Bing West and James N.
